Terms of Use and Privacy Policy
A – Scope and Purpose
1. These Terms and Conditions of Use govern the access to and use of the mobile application PIA – Prevention In Action (hereinafter referred to as “the application”).
2. The educational content on the topics covered was provided by the PIA Project consortium, led by the Portuguese Red Cross, through its Emergency Department, and the application was developed within the framework of a project coordinated by Critério Curioso. The consortium includes the following National Societies: the Slovenian Red Cross, the Spanish Red Cross, the Italian Red Cross, and the Hungarian Red Cross.
The application is an educational and recreational tool that enables users to learn about health and develop healthy habits through quizzes.
B – Conditions of Access and Use
1. The application is publicly accessible and free of charge. In the case of minors under 13 years of age, access and use may only be granted or authorised by the holders of parental responsibility.
2. Participation in and use of the application are voluntary. Users may stop using it at any time, based on an autonomous and unilateral decision.
3. By installing the application, the user declares that they have understood and accepted the following conditions and the legal information related to the application. If the user does not agree with these conditions, they should not use the application.
4. The app is based on content approved by health professionals and follows the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO).

C – User Duties and Responsibilities
1. The user is responsible for their use of the application.
2. The user should take the necessary security measures to protect their device against unauthorised access by third parties and against harmful applications. The user is reminded of the security risks associated with the use of the Internet and Internet-based technologies.
3. By using the application, the user agrees to comply with the applicable legal provisions and these Terms and Conditions of Use.
D – Data Protection
1. In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Portuguese national data protection legislation, all individuals have the right to privacy and protection against the misuse of their personal data.
2. The following data will be collected and stored in a database by the company developing the App: username (user ID), email address, user score and friends’ scores (leaderboard), usernames of the user’s friends, usernames of friendship requests, date of creation of the user account, and date of last login. These data are collected in order to personalise the user experience, help monitor user habits, and improve the content of the App. This data will be stored in the database of the Portuguese Red Cross.
3. The following data are stored on the device on which the application is installed: name, weight, height, age, gender, and app usage preferences (theme, language, etc.). Providing this information is optional, and once the App is uninstalled, the data will no longer be available. These data are collected to personalise the user experience, help monitor habits, and improve the App’s content.

E – Termination of Application Use
1. The user may stop using the application at any time by deleting or uninstalling it from their mobile device.
F – Copyright and Intellectual Property
1. The copyright relating to the application and its contents belongs to the PIA Project consortium.
2. The information and content in the application are made publicly accessible. The content is published for personal use and for use in schools. Any other reproduction or transmission of the content to third parties is not permitted. Downloading or copying content, including images, photographs, or other files, does not entail any transfer of rights relating to such content. Copyright and any other rights relating to the content, images, photographs, or other files in this application are held exclusively by their creators (the copyright holders).
3. Prior written authorisation from the copyright holders must be obtained for the reproduction of any of the aforementioned materials.
G – Final Provisions
1. These provisions have been published in Spanish, Slovenian, Hungarian, English, Italian, and Portuguese.
2. Use of the application is free of charge for users. Any Internet access costs required to enable the functioning of the application are borne by the user.
3. The Portuguese Red Cross, through its Emergency Department, reserves the right to amend or extend these Terms and Conditions of Use at any time, provided that applicable law and the copyright of rights holders are respected.
