Engaging Schools and Communities
In the framework of PIA Project, Italian Red Cross has been actively implementing health promotion and disease prevention activities across Italy. These implementation activities focus on raising awareness of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), providing diabetes education, and equipping young people with life-saving skills.
Between December 2024 and April 2025, CRI carried out an intensive school-based programme targeting young people aged 15 to 18. The programme involved:
✅ 25 schools across 10 provinces (Genoa, Florence, Pisa, Ronciglione, Santa Severa, L’Aquila, Bari, Lecce, Catania, Caltanissetta);
✅ 30 educational sessions combining theoretical and practical methodologies to deliver knowledge on NCD prevention and Basic Life Support (BLS) skills.
✅ Approximately 1 100 students trained;
Through these implementation activities, Italian Red Cross is ensuring that these students are truly empowered with knowledge, practical skills, and the awareness needed to prevent NCDs and respond effectively in emergencies, putting Prevention in Action!
